I grew up reading every fantasy novel I could find, and I've loved dragons ever since. I'm a gamer and artist at heart, and I've built a number of companies -- everything from e-commerce to food.
I wasn't allowed to play many games as a kid, so I've tried to make up for that as an adult. :) My main passion is building things -- especially putting a great team together and creating something that's beautiful.
I am a crypto lawyer turned NFT-enthusiast. I represent NFT developers, Defi projects, crypto influencers, and other blockchain exchanges and projects seeking to navigate the uncertain legal framework for crypto innovators.
I am a Silicon Valley software engineer and entrepreneur with over two decades of experience working in artificial intelligence, quantitative finance, and web services. But after getting into web3, I've found myself more excited than I've been in decades.
I'm an NFT investor best known for the sale of the HomerPepe NFT. I've been featured in the Feels Good Man documentary, and I just love this space.
My blockchain accomplishments include raising over $100k with my daughter through #ForkHunger NFT and airdropping a free, fully-playable arcade NFT to Lucky Maneki holders. I also once sold a Chrome extension with 9.9m users to Google. And I genuinely love building and breaking things to make them better.
I provide contracting and consulting services for Systems and Cybersecurity in the Blockchain, Cloud, and IT spaces, including System Architecture and Cybersecurity at Lucky Maneki. I am a Certified Blockchain Expert, friendly neighborhood ethical hacker, and generally good person who aims to help return power to the people through decentralization.
There will only ever be 8,888 Genesis Dragons - which all have Level 6 Max Stats (explained below), grant membership to our Alpha Dragon community, generate 8 $SCALE per day upon launch of the token, and will eventually be stakeholders in the DAO to be created for decentralization of the game.
However, upon launch of the game, players will be able to acquire nearly-unlimited Level 0 and Level 1 dragons, which will have none of the benefits of Genesis Dragons. This will allow everyone to play Dragon Rascals without diluting Genesis Dragon holders.
Genesis Dragons come with a number of advantages that newly minted Dragon Rascals in the future will not have:
Each NFT is a unique dragon that will come with custom art, custom max stats, and custom preferences. These NFTs are 100% yours to own and do with as you like. Upon release of the Dragon Rascals game, these NFTs will be able to feed, train, race, fight, and breed new dragons. However, any person or any group may also create new games or other uses for these dragons.
The initial mint of 8,888 Genesis Dragon NFTs are a special subset of Dragon Rascal NFTs that come with certain advantages (see above).
Dragon Rascals is a game where you can feed, train, race, fight, and breed your dragons.
All dragons start with a set of 10 Max Stats, as well as 10 Active Stats, which can be leveled up to that particular dragon's max stats. All dragons are also born with a unique (but hidden) set of preferences regarding feeding and training order.
At first, Dragon Rascals will have a relatively simple UI allowing players to feed and train each dragon they own up to 3 or 4 times per day, respectively. Feeding and training will level up a dragon's active stats, assuming that the active stats are not already equal to that dragon's max stats. In addition, as players discover their dragon's preferences regarding food and training order, feeding and training will have a greater effect.
Finally, players may enter their dragons into races and fights (see below). And after competing in a minimum number of races/fights, each dragon may breed (see below) to create new dragons.
Generally, a dragon may be staked into a race or fight once every few days. Races and fights will each involve 8-15 dragons. Races/fights will be continuously available, but will be segmented by a dragon's level of Active Stats (i.e., how far you've leveled up your dragon), so that each race/fight involves dragons of similar ability.
Race and fight results will be determined algorithmically based on the Active Stats of the dragons involved, as well as race conditions (length, weather, etc.) and a bit of randomness.
Performing well in races and fights will earn in-game rewards.
Two dragons may breed to create a new dragon when each dragon has reached a minimum threshold # of races/fights. In addition, breeding will cost a set amount of the in-game token $SCALE.
The Max Stats of dragon offspring will be determined by the average stats of their parents, with some random variance in either direction. However, maxing out a dragon's Active Stats prior to breeding will significantly increase the changes of creating offspring that exceed the average of the parents' Max Stats.
Dragons may also be "studded out" to another player for breeding, in which case the offspring will belong to the player who controlled the breeding.
Genesis Dragons may breed 2 times - and then an optional 3rd time that would burn the Genesis Dragon. Non-genesis dragons may breed only 1 time - and then an option 2nd time that will burn the non-genesis dragon.
Each dragon is born with a set of 10 Max Stats, ranging from Flight Speed to Combat Strength to Competitiveness.
Each dragon is also born with a set of 10 Active Stats, which start between 15-35% of that dragon's Max Stats. Active Stats may be improved by feeding and training your dragon - up to that dragon's Max Stats (see above).
Active Stats will be used in the Dragon Rascals game upon release for gameplay (fighting and racing), and may also be used by any other game or program that anyone else might develop or produce for the Dragons.
Yes and No.
When you mint a Dragon Rascal (or buy one secondarily from OpenSea), you 100% own that Dragon Rascal, including all custom art and Max Stats. We do not place any limitations on what you may do with your Dragon Rascal. In addition, although we are developing a game for Dragon Rascals, this does not preclude any other person or group from also developing a game or other utility for Dragon Rascals.
However, part of the Dragon Rascals game will still be centralized for a few years -- including storage of Active Stats, Preferences, Race/Fight History, and the backend programming of the game.
We're big fans of decentralization, and we plan to decentralize the entire game over time, including control of the game to a DAO to be created. However, it's not currently economically feasible to have everything on-chain, as the timing and costs associated with modifying on-chain asset multiple times per day are prohibitive. We believe that this will change and improve over the next couple years, and we plan to decentralize as much as possible during that time.
This is something that we don't yet have a complete answer for.
But what we are sure of is that holders of Genesis Dragon Rascals will have a significant stake in the DAO and the direction/control that the DAO provides for Dragon Rascals.
There's a longer and more "legal" disclaimer at the bottom of this page, but we wanted to make a few notes in plain English:
First, please Do Your Own Research. We aren't going to scam or defraud anybody, but Dragon Rascals are just like any other NFT - they're decentralized and out of our control. You should buy these NFTs to collect our amazing art, play the game, and to participate in our awesome community! Do NOT by Dragon Rascals NFTs on the assumption they will go up in value or that the team's efforts will generate a return for you as a holder.
Second, we hope to make both the NFTs and also the game a success. But we also know that a lot can happen. Crypto could experience a black-swan crash, regulators could decide that they want to ban all crypto, or people in our company could have personal issues (medical or otherwise) that prevent the realization of the best-laid plans.
We don't mean for any of this to sound like FUD or anything, but always be careful and please don't get rekt by over-extending yourself in any way.
For now, we're going to remain anonymous. However...
We just started the process to get verified by one of the most reputable companies in the industry. We'll post that as soon as it's complete.
Also, the only reason we're staying anonymous at the moment is to not make this about us. We want the art, the assets, and the community to speak for itself. And while we want to be a part of helping it grow and mature, we don't want it to be reliant on us at all.
